Avery graduated from Rice University in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. As a student, he was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and of the Society of Astronomy and Physics Students. He has performed research in increasing the security of electronic devices through physical unclonable functions, and in improving proton and carbon therapy beam treatment for cancer patients. After graduating, Avery began working at Fletcher Yoder as a technical advisor in July 2019.
